SOMETHING TOXIC IS COMING TO WESTCHESTER!
PMT Productions brings The Toxic Avenger Musical to Irvington
Directed by Jason Summers, Music Direction by Kinny Landrum
PMT Productions opens its 2016 season with the regional premiere of the 2009 Outer Critics Circle Award winner for Best Off-Broadway Musical, The Toxic Avenger, running October 28 through November 5, 2016 at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. PMT presents this hot toxic love story and laugh-out- loud musical that has it all — an unlikely hero, his beautiful girlfriend, a corrupt New Jersey mayor and an ensemble of 4 actors who play… well, everyone else. Melvin Ferd the Third turned Toxic Avenger is here to save New Jersey from toxic waste, clean up his neighborhood, and win the love of the blind librarian. It’s a love story with an environmental twist! The Toxic Avenger will leave audiences laughing in the aisles as it rocks the house, featuring an 80’s style score with a live rock band.
The show is based on the campy cult classic movie, The Toxic Avenger, which celebrates its 30th anniversary, this year. It is composed by the award-winning writing duo behind the hit musical Memphis, with book and lyrics by Broadway veteran Joe DiPeitro and music and lyrics by David Bryan. PMT chose this superhero themed musical to be performed the weekends before and after Halloween, with a fun “superhero” costume contest during intermission, the day before Halloween.
Anthony Malcar leads the PMT cast, which includes Michelle Tendy, Lisa Marie DeSanto, Joy Arzaga, Najee Gabay, Justin Thomas and Stephanie Viegas. The production is under the direction of the Jason Summers, with musical direction by the legendary rock composer and musician, Kinny Landrum. Showdates are October 28 and 29 at 6:00 PM, with the special performance and costume contest on October 30 at 2:00PM, followed by November 4 and 5 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.irvingtontheater.com or by calling the box office at 914-591- 6602.
About PMT Productions:
Pleasantville Music Theatre is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, is well-known for mounting the more “quirky”, “obscure” and “off-the- beaten-path” musicals that no other group will touch, such as Kiss of the Spider Woman*, Assassins, The Who’s Tommy*, The Baker’s Wife*, and most recently, the Westchester premier of Monty Python’s Spamalot, which won rave reviews. Their productions are quite lavish, with beautiful costumes, scenery, and full orchestras, and run by a professional artistic staff. This production will feature two professionals from the original Off-Broadway production, specifically, Andrea Dockhorn as costumer and Brian McPartlan, as the sound designer.
